The Workers Health and Safety Centre (WHSC)1 needs qualified instructors to deliver labour-based training and education in all areas of the province. To meet these needs, they are offering free training (non-scholarship) opportunities for union members to become WHSC instructors on the following fall dates:
Hamilton: Oct. 13 – Oct. 22, 2026, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM*
London: Oct. 19 – Oct. 28, 2026, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM*
Markham: Oct. 19 – Oct. 28, 2026, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM*
Ottawa: Dec. 7 – Dec. 10, 2026, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and
Dec. 14 – Dec.17, 2026, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sudbury: Oct. 13 – Oct. 22, 2026, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM*
Duration: 8 days
Cost: Free to approved applicants (lost time, meals, accommodations and mileage are not included)
The courses are ideal for participants in the region who will travel daily to the training, thereby minimizing associated expenses. Union may choose to cover these expenses and book-offs. Contact your local prior to registering.
Prerequisite for Instructor Training:
- WHSC Level I
or
- WHSC Certification Part I and II
Spaces are limited to 12 participants.
